2009 Conference News
- On behalf of the Heartland Latino Leadership Conference’s Board of Directors,
please accept our sincere gratitude for supporting the 2009 Heartland Latino Leadership Conference
Celebrating 10 Years of Inspiring Diversity and Developing Leaders. By supporting the conference, you've
demonstrated your leadership and commitment in helping us to develop a conference program that ensured we
fulfilled our mission to offer opportunities for Latinos to develop the skills, awareness, and networks to
become empowered leaders and catalysts for positive change in their communities.
The conference celebrated its 10-year anniversary this year with record attendance of more than 550 attendees! - The conference also provided the following:
•$15,000 in scholarships to 15 deserving future leaders of our community.
•Networking space in our business expo for small Latino business to market their products at the El Mercado area.
•Understanding of issues and opportunities surrounding the South Omaha Redevelopment Project and Latino health concerns at our two pre-conference community events.
•The opportunity for our participants to receive outstanding professional development through the numerous workshops with nationally recognized speakers and facilitators.
•Opportunities for past conference scholarship recipients to connect and network among themselves and with future employers at the first annual scholarship reception.
•Recognition of eight outstanding Latino role models and one Latino Advocate at the conference’s community leadership awards ceremony.
